In Britain hearing the first cuckoo of spring has long been a cause for celebration as it is a sign that spring is on its way. The cuckoo lays its eggs in the nest of another species and leaves them to rear its young. The female cuckoo can mimic the eggs of the host species and when the cuckoo nestling hatches it will push the eggs of the host species out of the nest. The beautiful ceramic droplets resemble the eggs of the Reed Warbler, a common brood host of the cuckoo. They have been hand formed and fired with a knobbly white speckled glaze, to give an oatmeal effect. Handmade rustic ceramic birds and yellow spring-like glass flowers are suspended above.
