According to Cornish legend, a particularly stormy winter in the 16th Century prevented the village of Mousehole's fishing fleet from leaving the harbour. On December 23rd a fisherman called Tom Bawcock braved the storms and managed to catch sufficient fish to feed the whole of Mousehole, saving the villagers from starvation. The entire catch was baked into a pie with the fish heads poking through the crust as proof that the pie contained fish. The fish appeared to be gazing at the sky, hence the name 'starry-gazy pie'. Ever since then 'Tom Bawcock's Eve' festivities have been held in the village of Moushole in Cornwall, England, during which the villagers parade with a huge starry-gazy pie and handmade lanterns. These delicate earrings represent Tom Bawcock's net and his catch. A handmade sterling silver wishbone supports the net, which is made of anodised titanium and stainless steel. These earrings are lightweight and therefore very comfortable to wear and have great movement.
